An enchanting addition from our Vintage Collection: a timeless brass Urli, adorned with three expertly crafted mythical Yali sculptures as its supporting legs. These captivating Yali sculptures, also known as Vyala or Vidala, are often seen gracing the pillars of Hindu temples. They beautifully blend the attributes of lions, elephants, and horses, believed to possess a power surpassing that of both lions and elephants combined.
The Urli has deep roots in South Indian culinary traditions, where it has served as a traditional cookware for generations. Typically made from clay, copper, or bronze, the Urli, derived from the Tamil word ‘Urulai,’ represents a round bowl that has found its purpose in home cooking and the preparation of Ayurvedic medicines.
The skilled artisans from the southern region of India have poured their meticulous craftsmanship into creating this Urli, resulting in a truly extraordinary and exquisite example of Indian handicraft.
Please note that vintage pieces come with small imperfections, that’s a part of its beauty and age.
