A rare and beautiful piece of South Indian heritage, this antique bronze Vetrilai Panikam is a traditional vessel from Tamil Nadu, historically used for preparing and washing vetrilai (betel leaves / pan leaves).
Designed with both elegance and function, the vessel features a central bowl to hold water, while the broad circular rim surrounding the top was used to neatly arrange betel leaves around it. The two side handles make it easy to lift and carry, especially during gatherings, ceremonies, and traditional household use.
Expertly crafted in bronze, this piece showcases the timeless artistry of Tamil metalwork. Its naturally aged patina, graceful pedestal base, and rare preserved condition make it a highly desirable collectible. Finding a Vetrilai Panikam in such good condition has become increasingly difficult in recent times, adding to its value and uniqueness.
Perfect for modern interiors, this versatile antique can be repurposed as a vase or statement décor piece, ideal for fresh flowers, dried arrangements, or decorative foliage, adding a timeless heritage touch to any space.
Please note that vintage pieces come with small imperfections, that’s a part of its beauty and age.
