Introducing our exquisite handcrafted Kinnal wooden sculptures, celebrated for their vibrant colors and glossy finish. Originating from the rich artistic heritage of Kinhal village in Karnataka, India, these traditional masterpieces often depict deities, mythological figures, and animals.

This exquisite set showcases Rati and Manmatha, the Hindu goddess and god of love, intricately carved from soft, lightweight 'Ponki Marra' wood, a regional specialty ideal for detailed sculpting. The process begins with sketching the figures onto the wood, followed by meticulous chiseling to shape them. A smooth finish is achieved by applying a mixture of tamarind seed paste and pebble powder before painting them in vibrant hues. Embellishments such as jewelry and decorative patterns are crafted using a paste of pebble powder and liquid gum. To enhance durability, a cloth coating soaked in tamarind paste reinforces the structure, while a base layer of white chalk powder paint ensures rich, vivid colors of red, green, blue, and yellow. These idols boast an exclusive golden sheen, created through a rare and labor-intensive technique that combines beaten zinc with herbs—a skill mastered by only a few artisan families today.

Standing as a testament to the labor-intensive craftsmanship of the few remaining artisan families in Kinhal village, these idols not only embody divine love but also preserve a centuries-old tradition. Elevate your space with this unique pair, reflecting the timeless beauty and cultural significance of Kinnal art.

Please note that vintage pieces come with small imperfections, that's a part of its beauty and age.
