Title: Naag Pujan
Size: 15”H X 11”W
A beautiful vintage Ravi Varma Press lithograph titled Naag Pujan, portraying the age-old Indian tradition of serpent worship. The scene captures a woman making a ritual offering in the presence of a cobra and its keeper—a fascinating glimpse into the customs and devotional practices of an earlier India.
The nāga, or sacred serpent, holds an important place in Hindu tradition and is associated with protection, fertility and divine power. Serpent worship is especially connected with Nag Panchami, when nāgas are honored through prayers and offerings.
Approximately 70–80 years old, this lithograph retains its wonderfully faded colors, natural age marks and old wooden frame. The Ravi Varma signature and press markings are visible along the lower edge.
A soulful piece of vintage Indian art, rich in history, culture and storytelling.
This chromolithograph was crafted at the Karla-Lonavla press.
