Celebrate the timeless beauty of tradition with this extraordinary vintage brass flower basket, lovingly handcrafted over eight decades ago in South India. Known as Poola Sajja in Telugu and Phuler Saji in Bengali, this basket carries deep cultural and spiritual significance, historically used to hold fresh flowers for pooja ceremonies and auspicious rituals.
What makes this piece truly rare is the delicately inscribed ‘Om’ symbol—a sacred sound and spiritual icon in Indian tradition—etched onto the body of the basket. The presence of this symbol enhances its devotional value, turning it into more than just a utilitarian object—it becomes a vessel of prayer and peace.
Designed in a distinctive octagonal form, the basket features exquisite jaaliwork that adds intricacy and grace. On either side, you’ll find two small attached bowls—traditionally meant for holding haldi, kumkum, or chandan—allowing for a complete ritual setup in one harmonious form. A strong, curved brass handle arches gracefully over the top, making it easy to carry or hang as desired.
Its warm patina and handcrafted charm make it a striking conversation piece—one that bridges the sacred with the ornamental in a truly timeless way.
Please note that vintage pieces come with small imperfections, that's a part of its beauty and age.
